On art….
COLOR.
Did you all know color is dying? This is my party topic right now.
The world is becoming less colorful. Think about it. No longer does anyone want a green car or yellow car. Office buildings: grey.
I am absolutely nauseated with “Millenial White”
I think Millenial White is a way to pushback from the fraught and shaky waters of our parents’ lives and our own. White is safe. White can be comforting. When you want to think positive: what do you think of? White.
Being colorful is a gamble. You never know if painting your wall yellow is going to make people think “Oh that’s Pee Yellow” Or if it’s going to make them think “Wow, Daffodil Yellow.” Can someone teach me how to properly punctuate quotations? Thanks.
This wardhole’s week challenge is: make something colorful this week. Buy a brightly colored bag. Choose a funky peach nail color. Paint your bedroom door red.
Break away from the grey.
On technology…
AI Art. Ok, I am scared to admit this. I really like it …??
At least the most mainstream AI art that I am being fed on Elon Musk’s X.
Jess Maccormack is doing some wonderful things with AI art.
It’s uncanny - it’s recognizable and interesting and appealing. Does that first picture look like Emma Stone..? I mean, is that not part of the fun of AI? The fact that some weird algorithm can ONLY make women look like Emma Stone? Because that is what is has most pictures of?
There is an argument (of which I can get behind…) where AI is not just borrowing imagery - it’s stealing other peoples labor. But, how do you build art that is not referential of the past?
I mean.. can’t AI be a tool to create new pathways and new images and find new ways to connect people?
Jess - the artist above even mentioned the following:
"I'm not sure how AI can help highlight social issues, as these tools reproduce historical biases, for example representing women as young, white and skinny unless otherwise instructed. I've been experimenting with representations of trauma and the body, queerness, alien clown drag, and more recently the symbolic use of the watermelon as representation of Palestine."
One thing I hated last week…
Playing my LEAST favorite game I like to call “Networking on LinkedIn”
Being online is horrible. Looking for a job is horrible. Now THINK about combining those two things.
I just pulled it up to look at what is going on over there.
Here is a real sentence a human wrote on this app.
"Listening is one of the most overlooked and under-appreciated skills that a Recruiter needs to possess.
No matter how great your abilities are as a storyteller, communicator, closer, or negotiator...
None of it matters if you don't know how to listen and understand what matters most to your candidates and stakeholders.”
A human wrote this. Not AI. A human.
Imagine talking to your inner child.
You: Hey inner child! Wassap!
IC: HEY! Sooo do we become a superhero when we grow up?
You: Even better.
IC: Even better?
You: We tell people online that it’s important to listen to candidates and stakeholders.
IC: OOOOH…
